1st Sunday of Advent

Theme for the week: God is with us giving us hope

Advent Candle Lighting liturgy
Leader:
Today we begin a new church year, with the season of Advent.
Advent is about preparing for the Jesus to return, completing God’s promises to save us.
ALL: Now this is something to hope for.
Leader:
Hoping for Jesus’ return brings light into our lives and the lives of others.
Financial concerns, terrorist attacks, environmental problems, health and education worries, violence, family problems and other things that cause suffering can make life seem dark and hopeless.
However our life is not limited to today, Jesus has created a future for everyone where nothing perishes, spoils or fades.
ALL:
Lets keep focused on Jesus and always be ready for His return
He helps us through today’s problems.
and gives the gift of eternal life to all who believe.
We light our first candle, the candle of hope as a reminder that Jesus brings the light of hope into this world.

The candle of hope is lit
