3rd Sunday in Advent

This week was a little unusal.

Due to a high number of children traditionally going away over Christmas at our Launceston congregation we decided to have their nativity worship service on this weekend. (So there worship service resembled what many people would experience at Christmas Eve...see Christmas eve)

Our Burnie and Devonport congregations had the readings and a worship service for the 3rd Sunday in Advent.
The theme for the 3rd Sunday in Advent: Living beyond today, focussed on eternity

Worship: All Saints Sunday

This Sunday we will be celebrating 'All Saints Day', based around the readings from the Revised Common Lectionary for year c of all saints saints day

As part of the service:
we renewed our baptismal vows
we thanked God for the saints (both living and dead) in our lives
lit candles from the Christ candle to reflect the light (goodness) we see in saints comes from the light of Christ.

Children's sermon:
Using cellophane paper, and the Christ candle we introduced Children to the idea that saints are people that God shine through, and this is what makes them look good.
